Chattering noise when Dishwasher runs

This has been happening more and more lately. I noticed when this loud chattering noise occurs is when the hot water is flowing into the Dishwasher. The chatters usually stop after about 7-10 seconds or so; but its loud enough, it can be heard from anypart of the house.

I am suspecting that there's a constriction on the copper lines due to the hard water (18 years old plumbing-never had problem before). If this is so, then do I need to "delimed" the copper pipe? If so, do I delime the water heater line only, or all the way to the dishwasher hook up?

Any suggestions from the knows out there is really appreciated! Thanks!

Disconnect the water feed line, at the dishwasher, and see if you have a restriction.

Also, there is tyipically a screen where the line enters the dishwasher. Check that also.

I just found out that the feed line is connected to a valve (also controls the hot water side of the kitchen faucet), and it was only slightly open. I opened it all the way now, and will see in few days if this fix the problem.

I made a trial wash this morning, no chatterring occured. Good sign! Let's give it a few more wash/trials, then we can be more positive, right?

Boy, I have never been more anxious to run the dishwashers than now, John! d But it usually take a couple of days (just the wife and I) to load it up...:'(

Update:
I've run it 4 times so far, no more chattering heard! I am convinced now that that was it. (hot water valve opening too narrow).
