I was humming along roughly 40mph on the good ole speedo but it seemed like 100km/h

My dad tells me to go straight as we never went to this part of the river before. I continue disregarding the buoys and i sit down for some reason and i ease the throttle because i wanted to enjoy the scenery. Exactly at that moment boom boom then mud is spluttering everywhere and the motor is running loud aka out of water. My dads like What the hell why did u let go of the throttle so fast... I look to the front and i see damn river grass growing around the boat... 30 minutes later and one damn shiny buffed up bronze prop later and wet feet we are back out. Started up motor then it died but turns out i flooded it.. 5 minutes later when it turns on finally all the brown water comes out of the peehole from the mud and all is well ;) damn what a lesson today

Out of no where going 40mph to a stand still in a matter of 1m.. No damage at all apart from the skeg losing its paint and some dirt going through the cooling system.. I only cut my lip on the window so i got out lucky.. My dad nearly fell out. I will probably change impellar soon..

Its one of those lessons that you learn in life, its sometimes better to go slow, enjoy the scenery, have some potato chips and sip a coke then to be running full throttle with 666 running through your head and then cutting your lip open.

Boatings a trip and then you die :D

Anyone ever got raped by the shallow water before?
Or have any similar stories

Where I live in the claifornia delta that sort of thing happens all the time. I was going into the boat club at low tide and got stuck in the mud so bad that we had to wait for thetide to come up. when I restarted the boat that thig was vibrating quite alot. lost a blade off the compsite prop.
I'm glad to hear you got away with only a cut lip.

Did the same thing but was going slow. Had to have the family and dog get out of the boat to get the lower end out of a sandbar so I could get the boat back in deeper water. No damage and the kids got a lesson in getting in the boat in water over their heads.

If you haven't run aground then you have never been in the Intercoastal Waterway.

I live on the Columbia river. And for years have travelled behind a particular island. Well over the years they dropped dredge spoils in behind this island, and after being boatless for sometime i decided to cruise in behind what used to be an eleven foot channel. Well as im cruisin about thirty im checking my depth finder and all the sudden it reads zero.zero and the pucker factor was high. Well i shutdown and trimmed up and luckily didnt ram the motor in too hard (loose sand) but had to push us out with boat poles and oars we must have been on this sand bar a hundred yards, and twenty minutes later we were free and clear. Lesson learned is that things can change drastically in a short time concerning waterways and channels.

ever watch a jet boat come off plane in a couple inches of water? 30 to 0 in a boat length. hard to convince prop guys that more throttle is the answer. at least they were standing and ended up on top of windshield instead of face first into it.

I think the biggest lesson here is never drive WOT in unfamilure water. You really should cover unknown water at a much slower pace. Especialy if one is in a river.

The best part of running aground is the chance of drowning from these depths is fairly unlikly. Get out, survey the damage, push shove and heave (while considering your compentency as skipper) and carry on. The down side is that spot never lets you forget, every time you pass it in the future it laughs at you when you go by.

not a running at wot story but .. lousy day to go out front or in the bay, so I stayed in the little backwaters around stone harbor, did some crabbing, found a great spot ... sun peeked out a bit, felt warm and drowsy, (crabbing is hardly adrenaline fuel!) closed my eyes "for a minute" and woke up sitting on a mussel bar ... this was in the old SeaMaster, a handbuilt 16 foot center console built so strong and so heavy, that there was no way to budge it from the spot, at least until the tide came back in ... when I came in with my boat load of mussels, a guy came over and said, do you have a mussel liscense? Noooooo ...
well get outta here, fish and wildlife are usually in here about now

I hear you DO have to have a permit for them now, and talk of a saltwater fishing liscence too ... now, Im all for fairness, but shouldnt all the road taxes being burned out on the water count for something? Sheesh

but as usual, I digress ... turned out to be a decent trip, those mussels were delicious with the crabs!
