Yesterday, as I was grinding, I got the idea to use the dust from where I've been grinding, to make peanut butter with. If it would work, then that would be a very cheap way to make peanut butter, because there are sections of my garage that are ankle-deep in fiberglass dust, and I'm A: not even halfway done, and B: haven't even swept yet.

Of course it would have to be sifted to remove any large particles, but after that, I can't see any reason it absolutely wouldn't work, can you?

Interesting idea. I could not see why it would not work, (but i'm no expert) The dust is glass and resin and is ground extremely fine. hummmm.....now u got me thinking.

That's what I'm thinking, the only problem I can see with it, is that it's not just glass, it's at least half resin, so it might take more to achieve the same strength... but it has me wanting to at least try it.

It works fine, the only thing you may run into is a fairly short shelf life after it's been blended with the resin. It tends to react with resin and can start to gel after a few days or weeks depending on the type of resin.

Apparently. :D Still going, too. Just taking a break for a minute here. Will get back at it in a few minutes.

Other inexpensive products that can be used as thickeners:

- Baby Powder (talc is the major ingredient that turns polyester resin into Bondo)

- Wheat Flour (basic cooking flour)

- Wood Flour

Wow, great info, did not know that. Now I know what to do with that bag of wheat flour my wife bought... goodness knows it's no good for baking. :D

Now thats a cool idea. How long do they last? What sort of loads does it handle?

I once had a simple push mower where the top crank bearing got all chewed up. Never saw that before. I basically poured epoxy into the gap between the crank and block. Got the points working and ran it the rest of the season.
