He lists this as a 290 when it's actually a C or later drive.
The suspension fork alone could bring $350 or so if it's good.
The fact that it's a C or later, and a 1.61:1 makes it worth a tad bit more than if it was a 290 or another ratio.
The discoloration may not be corrosion. Hard to say without better photos.

A good 1.61 lower unit by itself should bring about $600-700.
A C or later suspension fork should bring at least $350.
A good C or later transmission can bring as much as $1,200+ with the right buyer.
( gears and driven gear bearing size changes, and this is the 1 pc BB)
I suppose that a C or later Intermediate could bring $250+.

Are you thinking that he's asking too much?
