Just wondering the best way to check my 11 foot aluminium boats speed. It doesen't have a speedo. Would it be cheapest to buy a speedo or some sort of hand held radar?

Re: Checking boat speed

Borrow a buddies gps, or get a friend with a boat that has a speedo to run along side of you. If you have no friends, use yoor brain by marking off a known distance (ie. 1 mile) then clock yourself, note the time and do the math. If it took you a hour to go that mile your boat was going 1 mph. :p If it takes 5 min to go a mile then your going 12 mph

hand held gps cost ablout 100.00 or less plus youll never get lost and if you hit a hot spot for fish you can mark it on gps and always go back to it..Besides gps is more acurat then speedoo..
