I have made alot of changes on my 1983 Mercruiser 305/5L MCM228R Serial#6275628 engine The engine is out of the boat and I wanted to check that I have replaced the ignition system properly. Does anyone see a problem turning over the engine to check each cylinder for a spark with the exhaust manifolds off?

Dont see why not........Make sure the oil pump is primmed and it has oil in it.
Leave the plugs out so it turns over easy.

Also dont be to hard on your starter.......Hot, over work it ect.

Just wear safety glasses. The flash from the fuel as it lights up can be quite bright....... Just kidding, you'll be fine, I do like Bond-o, check 'em like that before dropping them in the hull....
