Checking oil in Tilt Trim reservoir

The manual says to put the lower unti in the up position. Does that mean all the way up with the trailering button or as far up as the up switch will allow?

What is this manual you are reading, cause all the Merc pumps on Alphas call for full down/In.

Yep - down and in. Which only makes sense when you think about it. The rams are all the in and the level will be at its fullest. If you have the drive all the way up / trailer, then when the rams are retracted, the pump will overflow.

Full in is what I meant. So full in does mean all the way down. Sorry I have been deathly ill for a few days.

A little better today. Went to the doc and got a fist full of pills. Not ym preference but whatever ills this funk...I'll do it.

How do you know what type of oil to use? for example I have a 1989 Alpha 1 on a 4.3 merc. mines low but i wasnt sure what to do.
