have a 1985 starcraft aluminum bowrider and considering a 4 stroke upgrade.. transom looks good with the 50hp evinrude I have on it . was considering a 60 4 stroke. is there a way to check the condition of the wood under the aluminum?
*usually* you can remove the upper trim piece, and inspect it from the top, on one in particular lately, I was able to remove the screws on top, and stick a long screwdriver in the screw holes. Further disassembly was required in that case. The boat was solid every where, except the transom wood was gone. Let us know what you find.
