I started my boat on the trailer today with muffs(flush kit) on when the water flows out where the upper unit connects to intermediate unit is this correct? I thought it was supposed to exit around pivot caps. This is a used boat I bought and my first boat if you havent figured it out yet. That why i'm asking all these dumb questions. It's a 3.8 chevy with a stringer stern drive 1981.

Lift the lower unit and look below the large hole there should be an exhaust
anode there. With the lower unit down cooling water will exhaust there. Also there is 2 small pee holes by the ball gears that shoot cooling water on them.

Just to give you an idea of the water flow on a stringer.
