is it safe to dip my block in Berrymans chemdip? will then be washed, oiled, honed, washed and scrubbed, reassembled then painted. i know it is aluminum. very heavy carbon on exhaust side-would like it clean and all crud out.

Hi Motordummy
I am not familiar with the product you mention. As far as the exhaust side clean up goes don't get too anal about it. Just gently scrape out the heavy stuff. Solvent and a brush will get the rest. Remember this is basicly the exhaust pipe. It will look the same way again 5mins. after you fire it back up. Sort of like cleaning a chimney. It has to be done once in a while, but your not going to eat your lunch in there.

hello
the problem with berrymans chem dip is it will lossen the paint in tiny chips. can you insure the chips wont get lodged in any recirc or oiling passages? leave the chem dip out. I use dawn diswashing liquid and hot water. on the final rinse use only hot water and the block will dry itself with a tiny burst of air. then you can clean the cylinders with clean lint free rags and TCW III oil.
good luck and keep posting
