For instance, this little girl was held down and "restrained" to the point of suffucation because she blew bubbles in her milk. She made it 7 birthdays, and she'll never see another one.

There was a report about Houston CPS on the news the other night that the average number of days after they receive a complaint to respond to the home is 233 days. It floored me. This system is very broke. I can't believe that our politicians and the personnel placing the kiddos in these homes can't get better control of this. It angers me beyond belief.

witf, I work at a Children's Center. We have all types of programs from our orphanage, Family Crisis Center, Safe Place, Street Outreach, Multicultural Institute, a program for high risk kids, a program for unattached kids with autism, schitozphrenia, Youth Homes, Transitional Living, Emergency Shelter for Families and Older youth, Child and Youth Abduction and
Exploitation Prevention Program and a child placement program.

I can assure you these abuses are not the norm. We require completion of training and certification for Foster Families, an FBI background check, drug tests, we do home checks on a regular basis.

These kids are enjoying a better quality of life and we strive hard to make sure of it.

I honestly don't know how some of these facilities get away with it. We have State and Federal inspections constantly throughout the year and are constanly on our toes to stay in compliance and foster programs that enrich and enhance the well being of our children.

what I have seen roun here is CPS (DHS) goes in and takes kids from good homes and those that need help don't get it! I'm sure this is not the case every time, but it is what I have seen.

In and area like Ny were i live i find the case workers to be over worked at best with many more familys than they can look after

Its kind of like classroom size at some point the teacher just can not function

Took one froma So So , neded a little help home here, 18 month old, killed by foster dad. System sux. When we left things being handled at the local level, and big brother took over, thats when it broke.
