Re: chine walk???

Specks n Reds, Thanks for that wonderful explanation. I have noticed this effect out on the water before, but I never thought it had a name. I just made me pucker up a bit every time it occured.
Thanks again,

Suzuki40

Does installing a doel fin on the cav-plate correct this problem???

Just a thought here.. If your going fast enuff to chine walk I think adding a doel-fin or similar device may only make matters worse... Not sure...

Re: chine walk???

The info on the back of my new stingray XP3 says it eliminates chinewalk on v-bottom boats, but I'm going to assume that shallower v's would be harder to stabilize with this fin and I think JB will agree with that.
The on-line site is www.marine-dynamics.com.

Re: chine walk???

don't see how a fin helps. On most pad-v boats, by the time they are chine walking, the cavitation plate is well out of the water.
Proper balance and tight steering reduce chine walk.

Re: chine walk???

unless you are running a flat bottom boat, the outer span of a STINGRAY is still in the water.
