Chipped flywheel?

So motor wouldn't start, acted like starter was bad. Starter just replaced 10 run hours ago. Pulled starter and found 2 teeth chipped on flywheel. I have two boat mechanic friends. One says I can drill hole in bell housing and if it happens to shut off at that spot just use screw driver to move flywheel but to new teeth. And fix during winter if I want. The other one says running with even 2 teeth missing is enough to cause out balance and wear out Mail seal or worse.
Thoughts? I feel like I need do it right and pull motor and replace flywheel.

2 hours to prep and pull the motor, 2 hours to remove rear housing, coupler, flywheel, drive off old ring gear,
install new ring gear, let cool, install flywheel, coupler, rear housing, reinstall, check alignment install drive

Yeah that's what I was thinking. So you think I should fix flywheel with new ring, is there anything wrong with just replacing whole flywheel with used one? Thanks

Except for the cost ,a ring gear is $40 but make sure it is the same type . There are internally balanced ones and externally balanced ones

Ring gear - summit racing.
Bit of gas for a map torch, a few hours. Leave it and you risk far more, including that nice shiny new starter motor you just put on.

Yeah, I'd do it now... And no, 4th july is not an excuse not to do it!

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,..... 99% of the time, motors stop in 'bout the same spot,....

You'll be screwdriverin' the flywheel every time ya start it,....

Dependin' on exactly how the teeth are busted,....
With chipped corners, rather than busted off teeth,...
I've driven off a ring gear, heated it up, 'n flopped it back on, upside-down,.....
All fresh teeth again,....

Ring gears are under $20, and take about 20 minutes to change (with motor on hook)

Pull drive
Pull motor
Drink beer
Put new ring in oven at 450
Pull flywheel
Knock off old ring gear ( i use a chisel and drift)
Clean up edges of flywheel as needed
Throw flywheel in freezer
Drink beer
Pull flywheel from freezer
Pull ring gear from oven
Drop ring gear onto flywheel
Turn off oven
Install flywheel on motor
Install motor
Align motor
Install drive
Go boating

There is more time to drink beer once the boat is floating
