I'm rebuilding a 4 hp johnson 2 stroke outboard (1969) and have 2 props that fit it.
Which one would be best for my sailboat ? (it doesn't plane and has a hull speed of around 5 knots)

Its 5,5m long, 5m waterline and weighs around 700kg.
(18feet, 16.5feet and around 1550lbs)

The specs of the props that I have available :

8inch and 5.5 pitch OR 8 inch and 4.5 pitch
The latter does look a lot bigger though (see below picture)

Re: choice of props

I think I would go with the 4.5 I think the larger blades will give better control especially if it has reverse.

You will definitely get more "push" with the larger blade area and less pitch. Agree also on the better control especially in reverse and to aid slowing when navigating in close quarters.
