Hello all, This summer i will be splashing my 8' Tiny Titan Hydro for the first time and using a rebuilt 1953 Bigtwin 25 hp. The engine came with the 3 blade prop but im wondering what other props are available for this engine?. Im thinking perhaps a two blade but am unsure what years share interchangeability?

I am in much the same situation with an older Chrysler 55 on a 10 foot tunnel hull. Now there are NO better or high performance props for this engine. You will not get any help from prop charts or prop sellers. You need to get a little creative. For example: I take props designed for Evinrudes and re-hub them to fit my Chrysler shaft. Also, you need to look on ebay for older high performance props like Oakland Johnson or Bronze props.. Try the guys at ScreamandFly to see if they have any recommendations and don't forget the Evinrude/Johnson forum.

There are props for the 25, 51-55 listed here at iboats I think 10 1/2 and 11"
Specialty props may be difficult to find. You might try at www.aomci.org

Remember that this engine is to be used on an 8 foot hydroplane. Obviously the guy wants to go fast. He simply won't be happy with anything stock. Two versus 3 blade? It used to be that for racing, a two blade was the only way to go. Nowadays you see 3 and 4 blade props on larger engines. For the big twin, he may be happiest with a 2 blade old school bronze prop. Stock aluminum certainly is not going to cut it. Custom props can be expensive but depending upon his degree of commitment, they may also be the way to go.

That old big twin motor should be pin drive. Those old pin drive props will be hard to find in the pitch he will want.

However, If he can find a modular hub that fits his smooth prop shaft, with a brass hub that protrudes enough to drill for the drive pin, he should be able to find a set of props that may fit.

The modular hub for my '98 Johnny 150HPV6 props does protrude enough to fit a pin drive, and has a stainless steel cast cover to dress it up. Clearly the prop from my motor sill not fit that big twin, but if the prophubs for a smaller Johnny of the same year have the same protruding brass hub with the right diameter hole, it could work.

If current prop works satisfactorily you should tach that engine first, you alone and lightly loaded boat preferably on flat non windy waters. Will know if inside safe wot rpm parameters factory stated for that engine. From there can maximize prop to suit your boating needs but need a point, current prop from where to start. Picking a prop blindly or as per someone else's recommendation without testing it is the worst thing you can do to harm any engine, that's what tachs are for...

I believe a 14" pitch was the highest available at that time.----Props from your year motor and 22 hp / 28 hp / 33 hp / 40 hp up to about 1970 will fit.---Used a 25 hp like that years ago on an 11' class " b ' racer and it was quite fast.----You are likely going to be looking at a custom prop for that little hydro.
