i have a differant thread about this motor but this is a differant question i dont want to fill my one other thread with 10 questions haha so here goes..
I'm new to outboards, not to boating, but I feel like a newbie all over again..
i have a 1990 johnson 4hp.. my question is about the choke lever.. when i pull the choke lever out is it supposed to squirt fuel into the carb? because thats what it does. also the fuel shutoff,, the knob just turns and turns so im not sure its fully open.. because yesterday my engine started acting up and wanted to die unless i gave it choke aka letting it squirt fuel but once i did that it was fine... it happened about 3 times in 2 hours. hows this choke lever and fuel shutoff work and how do i check if there is 100% fuel flow from the shutoff ?
