Installed a new key switch with push key to choke. Neather of the 2 purple
wires from the solenoid are connected to the wire comming from the switch
that sends 12 volts when key is pushed. Where should these be connected.
One has yellow stripe, other has white. 1971 50hp.

If I understand your question, the choke will have 2 wires. The black goes to a ground on the eng.the mounting screw is fine. The other ,which is power from the switch will be secured by using a screw,if you have a newer style choke which has the red bypass handle. It is a primer, not truly a choke,If you have the older style butterfly type choke, the wires should join with a connector, sometimes over time the connectors get changed.Either way the purple white at the choke or primer should be joined

There should be a purple with white stripe wire going from the choke switch, back to the motor.

At the motor end, that purple/white wire should be connected to BOTH the purple/white and Purple/yellow wires coming out of the solenoid.

There will be another purple/yellow wire going to a thermal switch. Disregard that one and do not connect it to anything.

This is not the original hookup, but is a modification in accordance with a service bullitin concerning better starting and warm-up.
