Hello fellas, I got the no spark situation solved, but now I have a question about the choke solenoid. To start, I already ordered an NOS solenoid, but it will be delivered to Phoenix and me and the boat are in Mexico. I have 2 old ones and one of them seems to work, except it will pull down, but not return to the up position. Is this a function of a bad one or am I missing something? Am I missing a spring? I couldn't find a real clear diagram, so any advice will be helpful, Thanks...Mark

Thanks Joe, I was just reading some threads about this and am going to do the mod that was recommended by a TSB. In the mean time I am going to use the manual choke and finally get the boat wet, it has been a long haul. Do you have an opinion about disconnecting the sensor wire as suggested in the TSB? This boat is in northern Mexico which is almost always warm, 75 degrees right now in fact, thanks again...Mark

I'd do the mod, no problem. Just make sure you follow the instructions, which amount to connecting both choke wires to the choke switch and eliminate the thermal switch. The mod does require "bumping" the choke switch to keep it running till it warms up enough to go on it's own----especially in cold weather.

If original the choke automatically goes to " half choke " when ignition is turned on.---Full choke when you operate the switch.-----It kicks to off when motor starts and warms up.

Thanks, just one more question, IIRC, the thermal switch activates the hot horn, is that correct? If so, does the mod affect that? TIA...Mark

No, it does not activate the hot horn !-------There is another sensor for the hot horn.
