am installing three batteries in 24' regal thinking 2 banks.using boat for salmon fishing so will be running lots of electronics which is why i want 2 batteries for house loads. will a 1 alt 2 battery work with the 2 houses being linked together? if i buy a 1 alt 3 battery can i leave 1 terminal unused in case i want to reconfigure at some point? will my standard alternator, assuming 60 or 70 amp handle all 3 batteries (302 mercruiser)? will check amps before i order.sorry for my ignorance just don't want to order a bunch of wrong stuff.

Wired in parallel of course, Yes

By "terminal", I assume you mean the iso's "#3" battery terminal.........Not sure, check the manufactures recommendations when ya pick one out that seems to work for and fit your needs and before you buy..........mine can but, I called first and asked just that question, I just jumper #2 to #3 if I choose to just run two banks.

will my standard alternator, assuming 60 or 70 amp handle all 3 batteries (302 mercruiser)?
Typically, Yes
