Re: Chrysler 105 hp

Motor is from 1966 which was the first year of production for Chrysler. Design was probably West Bend. If compression is good and ignition is good you should have little problem with the motor. These motors were built with some real metal and are of good design and are easy to work on. You will find people that say Chryslers should be avoided where I have had mine for 10 years (1967) and have had minimal problems with it. If you choose to buy it you will want a factory manual. It is getting real hard to find mechanics anymore that will work on these. Parts can be found if you are resourceful.

Re: Chrysler 105 hp

ive actually got a 67' 105 chrysler on a 17 foot glastron, and even though its shot out two sparks plugs, its always ran me back to the dock on 3 cylinders, it took me a while to get mine running good, if i can just get it to stop shooting spark plugs out id be alright! it may just be me, but it seems kinda slow on the boat, i think i need to re-prop, but other than that, no complaints.

also, if you ever need a timing belt for that motor, save yourself some time and money, dont order a 30 dollar belt from a marine dealer, go to a gates belt dealer, i played hell finding mine, to find one locally for $4.21! i believe it was an 18xl037, but im not 100% sure.

im also in the process of finding a 6 vane water pump impeller that will replace the old 12 vane, i believe i had found one, but lost the paper with the part number :( dumbass me washed the pants with the paper in the pocket.

Re: Chrysler 105 hp

to gonefishin485, I was just checking around on the forum to see if there were any 1967 Chrysler 105 motors still running. I was just a kid about 14 years old when my Dad bought a brand new 1967 Larson 15' run about and put a 105 Chrysler on it. At the time the maximum recommended HP for that boat was only 85, but Dad wanted lots of power. It ran good for a lot of years, we uused it mostly for skiing and some fishing (trolling for Rock Fish)
After I grew up and left home he ran it a few more years, but it gave up the ghost around 1980. He replaced it with an 85 HP Merc. Just never was the same. Hope yours is still running.
