I have just gotten a 20Hp chrysler, 25$ runs fine, Lower unit does not shift.

I took it off and manually pull the rod up and down and nothing. Is there a repair site for this stuff. It seems like the 20Hp parts are hard to find.

Is it easy taking one appart?

Cheers

Re: Chrysler 1976 20 Hp lower unit

It's possible someone undid the pivot screw on the side of the lower unit and re-installed with the bell crank out of position. This isn't a complicated lower unit, remove the lower unit from the motor, remove the prop, and undo the two allen head bolts holding the bearing / seal carrier in the lower unit. Twist the carrier 90 degrees and carefully tap on the carrier ears that the bolts went through to move the carrier out of the lower unit.If this doesn't work you'll need a puller. Once removed, the whole gear/shaft assembly should slide out of the housing. The bell crank should pivot on the screw previously mentioned, and the little bronze yoke should be in the fork of the bell crank. email me if you need a parts pictorial.
