We have a 1988 35 foot Luhrs Alura with twin chrysler 360s in it. They start up usually and run and sound like champs. But after about a half hour usually or more they sound like theyre gasping or something for about a minute then they shut off and don't start. We were in 4 foot following seas when this happened once, that was fun. They are carbuerated. We also replaced the solenoids on one or maybe both. We installed a fuel water separator, flushed the tanks out, and even emptied one. We belive the previous owner put water in the gas tank because it had the water tank lid on it:facepalm: We had both carbs cleaned and rebuilt too. We tried everything, any ideas?

fuel lines are vapor locking most likely, or you have a blockage. Only thing that can affect both engines is fuel so you need to start there.

But how do you fix that, looked it up, seems to be exactly what is happening.

Re: Chrysler 360 Problems

Both tanks feed both engines in most cases.. Fuel lines need to be away from any heat source. Somewhere along the line, fuel is getting hot enough to vaporize and it's hard for the mechanical diaphram fuel pumps to pump fuel with locked fuel vapors in the line... Just check the fuel lines for proximity to a heat source.
