I just picked up an older Chrysler 4.4 HP Outboard for free. It is all intact but seems to be seized up. I tried to find the Model/serial nummbers but no luck. It is White with a fully incased leg, white and beige hood with a chrome strip down the middle. Could someone help me with getting some info?

Thanks

Pull the plug.
set the motor so that the plug hole points up.
Fill plug hole with "marvel Mystery Oil". (it's available at most auto parts stores, and comes in a red and white metal can).
Let it sit overnight.
Gain access to the flywheel retainer bolt, and using a half-inch drive socket and breaker bar, rock the flyhweel back and forth gradually.
As for literature, here is a link to the manual you'll need; repair manual

Thanks 12 Footer.

I'll give it a try over the week and I'll probably order the manual later on. I noticed that the lower end seals were toast as well and if I could figure out the year and model number I order the parts. It appears it may be a 1968 model.

____________________
You can take the man out of the bay, but not the bay out of the man, as they say here in Newfoundland!!

Cheers from the ROCK.

Re: Chrysler 4.4 HP

I took the cover off the cylinder heads and found that the top one was totally seized and rusted. I scrapped the engine for parts and kept the lower unit housing including water pump housing, prop and gearing (NEED SEAL KIT), transom mount with controls, and the carb, all of which are in good shape.

I a not sure if these would be highly valued but if anyone is interested or have an idea of what they are worth please let me know.

Model # 402
HP: 4.4
Serial# 2595

Anyone know what year this might be?

Re: Chrysler 4.4 HP

Sorry about your R.I.P., but your best bet now, would probably be to take a digi pic of each part, and list them on ebay. I just saw a 70's vintage recoil with switchbox for a merc 7.5HP sell for 66.00!!!
That blew my mind. It also got to thinking about parting-out a couple motors I have laying around with minor problems. :)
