I have a 45hp chrysler outboard 1971 I thing.
It starts great and idles great but when I give it the throttle there is a hesatation and like it is not getting enough fuel other times away it goes. Also one tank works better then the other, what do yo think it could be, tune up ??????/ I also just put a fuel filter in the line after the pumper ball.\\

Unless the tank has water in it there should be no difference.
There could be an air leak or a crack, something letting air in???
What setup do you use on both tanks.
Seperate bulbs and hoses?
Or both off 1 line?

Re: Chrysler 45 hp outboard running problems

I have the tanks beside each other and when runs out i switch the tanks by a quick connect, same hose and bulb. I set the motor in a barral and fire it up the next day and it runs good and reved up with no issue.

i went across the st lawerance river at 30 miles an hr and then fisshed for 1 hr and fire the engine and i was running fast and the engine farted and spuddered and i thought the tank ran out. I switched to the plastic full tank and no such luck.
