Hey all..

I recently sold my boat with a 1967 Chrysler 55HP outboard motor on it. The seller was a older gentalmen that doesn't seem to use the internet and I am trying to track down some parts for the motor.

When we sold the boat and motor it was running fine and it was test ran for him prior to purchase, but anyways, after he got it home the impeller stopped working and water was not being feed into the motor correctly. When we did upper engine work we got our replacement parts from Napa autoparts, but it seems that they don't carry them any longer.

Where do I direct this guy to? If anyone has knowledge on a parts store carrying replacement parts such as the gaskets to seal the lower end and mid section as well as the impeller.

Thanks,
Jared

Mercury would be your best bet but chances are they wont be too helpful. Do a Google search for 18-2636 seal kit. Most 35,45 and 55 HP lower units are interchangeable so if the kit says it is for a 35 dont worry. Only seal that is no longer available is the one between the two lower unit parts that separate. This can be made with gasket paper and non hardening Permatex.

I have the seal kit coming for my 1969 55hp along with the gasket that eurolarva mentioned. I found a place that has 2 of them, well 1 now. The gal on the phone said they aren't made anymore but they had 2 on hand still.

Here's the phone # if you want one of these gaskets:

Fairwinds Marina, Annapolis MD. 410-974-0758. $10 for the gasket, $13 for shipping. I ordered mine yesterday.
