Chrysler 707HA questions

Hi all!

I have searched the forums, and can't really find the answer to my question.

I picked this boat up last fall, and am working on getting it usable. (http://forums.iboats.com/pontoons/new-boat-couple-questions-578807.html)

I got it running, but have seen a couple of threads on the net that are scaring me. It currently has bent-electrode plugs in it, even though it was originally supposed to have surface gap plugs. I have read that bent-electrode plugs can melt pistons, so I want to switch back to surface gap plugs. Unfortunately, what surface gap plugs are recommended for this motor?

BTW: still have to check the impeller and lower unit lube... otherwise, this thing runs like a champ.

TIA!

Re: Chrysler 707HA questions

OK... 60 views, and no opinions...

More info to maybe jump-start this conversation:

Currently, there are Champion L82C plugs in this. A local marine dealer told me that a lot of guys will replace the surface-gap plugs with electrode plugs in colder weather, to get the motor to run more smoothly. According to this chart (http://www.hrpworld.com/client_images/ecommerce/client_39/products/pdf_1395_1.pdf), the L82C is the HOTTEST plug.

Any suggestions or advice?

Re: Chrysler 707HA questions

According to the NGK site, this motor is supposed to use the BUZHW plug...

Re: Chrysler 707HA questions

Correct plugs for Chrysler electronic ignition engines are: Champion L20V, UL18V, NGK BUHX or BUHW. Autolite also has an equivalent but I don't like Autolite so I don't remember the number.

OR: Later on, Mercury changed the Force plug to L78. You can use these Mercury surface gap plugs too.
