Hello,
I need assistance with the Magnapower of my 75hp. I just bought the boat together with its problem. I need a electronic diagram so that I can replace the faulty electronic parts. Is it possible to replace the whole box with some other cheap (but good) compatible solution?
Cheers
Edward

Re: Chrysler 75hp electronic ignition problem

There were 3/4 different systems on the same year engine named Magnapower. You ID it with number on CD pack, if number missing, or after market installed, you need book with the different wireing diagrams and match one of them to engine. If engine has one sensor/trigger in a distributor, with one coil, it may be possible to graft on a electronic ignition box from a Ford Escort. If I remember correctly the trigger on the older Escort made about 1/2 volt at cranking rpm, and I think some of the older Chrysler sensor made about the same voltage.

Re: Chrysler 75hp electronic ignition problem

Thanks very much mate,
I will go for the car cdi option. My motor has one triger output on the distributor and one coil mounted on the Magnapower itself.
Do you know if I need to change the coil as well or can I use the one that I have with a car cdi?
Do you know of any old Japanese car that might have a suitable cdi for my solution?
I am located in Sydney and we have here different types of cars, therefore the Escort that you mentioned is a different car than what we have here.
All I need now is the output voltage of the Chrysler electronic distributor that is mounted on the motor, the cdi that is happy to read such an input and hopefully gives the right output for the original coil.
Please advise
Thanks again
Edward

electronic distributor with blue input +12 (ignition) and white with black stipes output towards the cdi. inside the distributor, it seems that the pulser is an optical one.
thanks
Edward
