I can buy a Chrysler boat with a 105h.p. Chrysler Outboard and trailer, it appears clean and complete, I don't know the year or much else about it but I do like the lines, has that humped contour along the top and short rounded windsheild and says CHRYSLER on the side of the boat, says something 105 on the bow cap also I beleive. Not sure if the trailer is original but fits the boat nice.
It comes with a (bill of sale only) from the guy who's selling it. Would it be much trouble and expense to get the correct paperwork for the trailer, boat and motor or should I move on? He's asking $400 or best offer. I'm in North Carolina what do you think?

don't touch it without him having the correct paper work. until he has the correct paper work, it is considered stolen. he does not have title to sell it.

I bought a boat without a title and it was a pain to get a new title, mostly because the enviro police wanted a copy of the sellers driver license and he ignored my requests, I eventually got him to sign for a registered letter ( a ruse) and the police accepted that as proof of his ID.

Each state varies bit, but none of them want to see you in line applying for a sticker with no title, they will not register it.

If you really like the boat go down to the boat registry and ask them what they will require, don't rely on their websites.

BTW, my boat is a 20' chrysler. expect the stringers and transom to be rotted unless they have been done already. Its not cheap for nuttin.

Sounds like a shallow Vee. Chrysler made two outboard sizes and (I think) a couple of I/O versions. They manufactured them (I think) from the late 1960s to the late 1970s. REMEMBER: That boat is older than most titling laws and if it is the original owner selling it, a title may have never been issued.

Chrysler boats were manufactured by Lone Star boats which was a respected boat manufacturer when Chrysler bought them out. The shallow was a Chrysler design though. The package is a nicely matched one. If you are, or intend to be a Chrysler fan, restoring it should not pose insurmountable problems. But, expect to put some sweat and money into the boat. Parts for the hull and engine are still available; sometimes you just need to look a bit harder.

It is a nice looking package which will command better than the asking price by far when restored, and will still turn heads at the ramp. At 400 bucks, I would be willing to put in the time and aggravation to get the boat registered and titled.

Want to know more? Go over to The Chrysler Crew and talk to Dave "Hurrikain" Kain and Franz Buddenberg.

If you still don't want it, send me the sellers phone number in a private message---South Carolina is only about 8-11 hours away from me. I'll take it.

If you do buy it, then get yourself an old school 'Cuda, Challenger, Road-Runner or Charger to tow it. Cant do that? Get a nice new Hemi truck. LOL.

Re: Chrysler Boat 105 Chrysler Outboard and Trailer Question

Well after having trouble with my truck this week and taking the time to check and see how much trouble it would be to get the paper work straight for the boat, motor and trailer, I went to take a final look at the boat before making my final decision about it, and it was long gone.
