Hello everyone!

First I have to thank you people for all the time and effort you give to making this a great site. I have been reading and reading for a few days now, and there's still much to learn.

I dragged home a Chrysler Courier 154 this week. My first project boat. Well, first 'glass project boat. I have a little 12' aluminum shallow V fishing boat with an Evinrude 3 horse I got for free and got running.

Dave over at the Chrysler Crew web site helped me with the HIN to tell me the year is a '75.

Here's a few pictures:

What I am wondering, is....is it worth it? I snagged it for $250 but there's a LOT of work to be done! Like, many stress cracks, transom is shot with stress cracks and rot, and I'm sure the stringers are gonna be toast.

I like the lines, it's different. Not sexy, but unusual. A wanna be Hydro.

I plan on a total tear down and rebuild. All the 'glass work, new gel coat, customize the deck ect.... I'm a carpenter (18 years) and am very handy mechanically.

Can anyone give me a guess as to what I can expect time wise? There's no way I am gonna finish it for this season. I live in Michigan, so I have to find a place to work on it. (I don't have a heated dry space at home...)

Thanks,

James

Re: Chrysler Courier 154 Project

the 1st thing i would do is get that Johnny running, that's where value is at this moment. as far as time and money, it totally depends on how far and how deep you want to go. it can be a really great boat. 1 st priority is the make it a safe boat, then add all the cosmetics. you know what has to be done. keep the projects small enough you can see progress, one goal then the next. that's how i do it. you will never get you time or money out of it. but, boys does it feel good to take an old hag, clean her up, to where you might even want to date her.

Sure! That would be great!

I haven't started it yet. It's a winter project, for when the cold and snow sets in.

Re: Chrysler Courier 154 Project

Howdy jameskb2 and the rest of you mariners,

FYI ...We picked up a trailer, 1978 Courier 154 and a 85p Chrysler "Charger" on it for $400 CDN. (right place right time)

We were able (w\ much help from our friends at iboats forums & eBay for a starter) to get her run'ng.. the boat seems solid (cept for a soft spot in the bow) so we're gonna put some TLC into her too.

It's my opinion worth it not only for the boat but for the experience.
(just don't spend toooooo much $$)

I will do what I can to help u.

Good luck.
Frk, Marj and the Kids.
