i have a 1967 chrysler 55 hp shortshaft, model number 55722. I heard this engines flywheel key, holds and controls the timeing, is this true and if so wat affects will come from using the wrong key.
The biggest issue for the key is that it is the correct size and it has the same shear strength. Why not buy the correct key. You can get them from a mercury dealer the part number is 28F92498. The price is 6.20 dollars. The original chrysler key part number was 92498.
Also could this be the reason for no sparking? cause the motor doesn't geterate a spark, and the flywheels loose, so do you no the part numbers for the flywheel and the coils and their prices thanx
You need a parts manual. You can get them here. It's the original one from Chrysler and contains exploded diagrams of your motor with mfg. part numbers. Mine was well worth the 10 bux I spent on it.
