Hello,
I have been reading on this forum quite a bit lately and have found it quite helpful as I am restoring two older boats that I have.

The problem that I have run accross recently is w/ my Chrysler 75 3cyl O/B model# 757HA. When I fired it up since it hadn't been for a couple of years....I didn't notice any water being pumped out of the top set of holes on the back of the motor. I shut it off very quickly as I knew damage would occur... and figured that it would be the water pump. So I dropped the lower end to take a look at it ....well I screwed around w/ the shifter a little noticing that the seal needed to be replaced because ther was water in the lower end... in doing so I screwe up the yoke and had to proceed to take the lower unit appart, and I didn't like what I found. I found that the front bevel gear and the pinion gears were chewed up. What causes this to happen ? I would like to know if these parts are easily available and how much am I going to spend on these ? There is a small boat shop here in town and the guy quoted me about $600.00 for these parts . Any suggestions or info on cheaper parts ? I was really excited to get this boat out this summer, but looks like I have hit a road block if it is going to cost that much.

Sorry that this is so long, but I wanted to include as much info as I could. Hope that somebody can help me out ....

Thanks
