Have a 1977 Chrysler Outboard Motor, Model Number 356HE, 35 HP. We would like to know the adjustment on the jets (how many turns of the screw and which way). Engine runs, but will not idle.

Re: Chrysler Outboard

Book says turn clockwise till lightly seated then back out 1 3/4 turns counter clock wise. Adjustments need to be made to fine tune it from there. go 1/8 turns clockwise and wait like 30 seconds keep doing it till motor starts to race. Go back in 1/8 turn incriments till motor starts to stumble. Half way between both adjustments is the correct position. When you gun the throttle it should go. If it stumbles then goes it is too rich and needs to be leaned out clockwise a bit. If it dies when you gun it it is too lean and needs to go counter clockwise a bit.

The idle adjustment is on the shift tower. You will see a screw with a jamnut. Turning it in increases your RPM.
