If anyone has an old chrysler manual I need help here!! I have a 1979 55hp Chrysler outboard. I have been told the torque for the head bolts is 225 In.Lbs (19 Ft.Lbs). In my oppinion this sounds way to low. If anyone Knows the correct torque it would be appreciated, If this is similar to you're engine's specs, let me know, if this is an average torque spec for typical aluminum block Marine engines then I'd be comfortable using the 19 Ft.Lbs. Thanks....

Hi, Shawn. Yes it is typical. OMCs are usually 19 to 22 lb-ft.<br /><br />Good luck.<br />JB

Shawn if the head bolts are 5/16" diameter 225 is correct....if 3/8 then is 270 lb/inch.

Remember, you're dealing with aluminum here, not cast iron. My Chrysler 50 factory manual calls for 270 in/lb. (Must be 3/8"...)
