Re: chrysler parts

NAPA sells both Kits. 18-7806 for the fuel pump and 18-7037 for the carb. Carb kit is around 15 bucks and the fuel pump kit is about 10. If the fuel pump valves need replacing you will have to get them from Mercury. They cost about 5 bucks each and the gaskets are 50 cents each.

Re: chrysler parts

There were a couple of different models for that year. Please post your model number. It is located on a data plate near the carburator.

Re: chrysler parts

sorry iforgot to post the numbers . they are 559h8k and 2264. also , what can you tell me about the charging system on this motor? what kind of amperage should it put out? is there a manual available that is specific to this motor? i have the clymer for chrysler 3.5-140 hp 1966-1984 manual.are the other manuals (seloc?) any better? several people have told me that these 55 hp are the "worst of the worst". is this just the typical chrysler bashing or are these particularly prone to failure? i truly appreciate any and all comments on the subject.

Mercury number for you thermostat is F84068-2. You will also need the gasket 27-F474067 and the grommet 25-F84504. These parts can be purchased from your local Mercury dealer. Total cost is around 30 bucks.
If you want a factory manual you can get one on CD, download it or get a paper copy from chrysler crew I would also order a parts manual from them as well.

You will not need a lower unit seal kit unless you are seeing water in the oil. If you need a kit post here and someone will give you a link. I beleive napa sells them but do not stock them so it could take a while to get it from them.

If the motor has been taken care of it should run good for you. You may be looking at problems because you live in californina. With tougher emmisions standards your motor may become illegal. Older chryslers are not known for being enviornmentally friendly. I believe by 2008 motors sold in california have to be four stroke. I dont know what is going to happen to the people that own these older motors.
