Hi guys,
I have a 1974 55 HP, and a 1970 9.9 HP, both Chryslers.
They both have OEM port stops that I don't care for much. They both (at some point) have lost the spring to them, and don't move very easy.
I was wondering if anyone has any better option for replacement?

I can fix them.... But, before I spend time trying to find (make ) parts, I figured I'd ask....
Any suggestions?

Port stops?-- never heard of them. Do you mean reed petals or reeds? A photo or two will clarify.

I've never posted pics on the forum before. Hope these 3 are attached!?

I've had to replace them once before, and when I bought them, they were described as port stops.
They hold the outboard up in the tilted position.

Aha the old tilt stop kit, I ahve been chasing them for ages, but I have found a better type than them which is used for tilt trim motors.
Yes there is a better bracket than that, I will try and post a pic of it, they are around $75 - $85

Mick,His transom bracket might be too small for the tilt lock you pictured.
He'll need the lock he pictured.
I'm guessing your in the US???
Try Valley Sales in Prudenville,Mi.
Call him as he's slow in answering his e-mails.

Re: Chrysler port stop help

yes jerryjerry you are probably right I didn't read the post properly to realise it was a 55hp as this is for my 100hp with tilt and trim.
Sorry if I mislead you.

I have one but it is dedicated to my 150. You would need to give me your left ball for me to part with it. I am toying with the idea of making one--it doesn't look too difficult: Some square tubing and a couple of pieces of 1/2 inch rod.

Lucky to have my left ball, it was shot of in the last big war we had, no not ww2 the war with my missus . I actually have a contact who has one in nice sunny Canada, your mates, that's where the photo came from, but $80 is too much for something I could get fabricated, and anyway, I have the old v-stem system :p
