circuit breakers and fuses

Does it matter where you place an inline circuit breaker or fuse such as a trolling motor? Should it be in the positive or negative side of the circuit or no difference?

I've always seen fuses on hot side (+) for anything. If you put on ground side (-) and the "items" get ground from some other means, it will still be getting power even if fuse is blown.<br /><br />BL...

I always fuse the Hot side. See post above. If for some reason the device you are fusing grounds before the fuse, you will leave it unprotected. Once the "magic smoke" is let out of the component it will never work again.<br /><br />There are some devices that switch the ground, this is fine as long as you fuse hot.
