I'm trying to find out some info about my push button circuit breakers for my 99 Sea Pro. My CD player wont turn on and I noticed the push button is stuck in. When I turn the toggle switch on, the red indicator light comes on showing power, but CD player nothing. I removed the cercuit breaker to get the info off of it and then hit the switch and no indicator light.

I'm guessing that means my breaker is ok and there might be another issue with the CD player.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Thanks,

If the breaker is tripped, the reset button is OUT...

Make sure the yellow wire from the head unit is powered up, check the inline fuse on the red wire, and check the fuse on the back of the head unit...

If you removed the circuit breaker, there would be no power to the circuit. You are not testing anything by removing it. If you know how to use an ohm meter or continuity checker you can check the circuit breaker (after sdisconnecting the wires). It should show continuity or close to zero ohms.

Re: Circuit Breakers

Thanks both for the quick replies. I have not pulled the head unit out yet, but will do it tonight or this weekend. I took a quick look at the fuse on the back of the unit and it looked good, did not see any in-line fuses on the wires, will have to check more closely.

Again, Thanks a bunch!

Re: Circuit Breakers

Just because the indicator light for the switch comes on does not mean power is actually leaving the switch and going to the unit. The light is merely that -- it tells you the switch is on and that it has made internal contact with the "load" terminal of the switch. If that terminal does not have anything connected to it (as in the wire is broken or disconnected) no power gets to the unit but the indicator will be on. A voltmeter and knowing how to use it is your friend.

...and if your not familiar with the multimeter, go to The Multimeter...something I wrote that can make the multimeter the most useful tool in your toolbox...

Re: Circuit Breakers

People have left CD players alone together in a quiet dark room for months and there has never been any issue from them.
