Classic Fifty 45Hp No Power Up

1988 Classic Fifty 45HP will not throttle up It stopped power up but will run at idle, Shifter and linkage looks like it all works, electric choke also works, Runs Pumps water, After engage Forward or Reverse what makes the throttle and carbs power up. Do I need to pull the fly wheel or something. Could use some input Thanks Much Richard

AS the throttle open up, linkage also advances the spark, have you checked to see if all these things are moving with the engine off but in fwd gear?

Motor off, key off Shift from neutral in to Forward and then Reverse and the linkage does move back and in and out as the shifting takes place.
Nothing looks out of place. It was working after replacing the impeller in the lower unit and the lilt pump, everything worked. Trolled for a short time, turned off to use trolling motor for fishing, started up and went into forward gear ok and the throttle handle went all the way forward and nothing other than the idle rpm in forward back to the launch area, Recovery Area. Is their any linkage under the Flywheel to the Carburetors almost like not connected ?? Well thanks very much Chief I will dig deeper.

Hi Bill not sure how to use the forum I did reply to your post not sure you saw it. If you could ( with the motor running and throttle handle engaged forward engine only stays at idle rpm I push the Spark Advance Lever forward sand motor want to die out) Just what makes the motor obtain a higher RPM (go faster) ??

Hello to all,
Still trying to work out my motor issue.

1988 Mercury Classic Fifty 45HP OB341205 4cyl, 2 Stroke

Started out with New Gas and Oil Mixture (Mercury Marine Oil)
Replaced Impeller, replaced Tilt Motor, checked lower unit and greased unit full.
All was well everything was working well. then my first post.
After launch powered well full stopped to fish, restarted would not go at full high RPM
Checked: Spark Plugs did not look bad but replaced all four plugs NGK BUHW-2
Compression test 80
Fuel: New 50 to1
Fuel Flow: Checked filter no clogs, no dirt, no leaks.
Primer Bulb, pumps and works, holds prime
Fuel Pump: pumps and works with some pressure ? not knowhow much it should
Motor getting fuel thru Bulb, filter, to pump and out of pump to "CARBS".
Start and Idle at 1000 RPM's, sounds GOOD
Engage to forward cables moving, levers moving push throttle handle up to full forward only get 2000 RPM's flat OUT.

Not sure what to do next, need that life Motor and Man need HELP!
