Clean cuts in hull

I'm considering purchase of a 2001 Monterey 262 and have some concerns with regard to clean straight breaks in hull along the helm area starboard and port side of boat. There are a few of these some worse than others. Can anyone tell me how serious these may be? I know gelcoat cracks don't look like this.

Thanks.

Ken

Do you have better pictures . . . can't really tell what we are looking at. Is that the windshield frame area?

Thanks KCassells. So it's something you're aware of? How does this happen or may it be factory created problem?

Yes, tpenfield that was along the helm just below the windshield.

I have a zoomed out view of the area in question. Those particular pics a right around the helm console. You can see the sticker in one of them. They aren't very long from this view. maybe a couple inches. It's just the fact they are so straight and appear from camera closeup to be deep.

OK, so they are approximately where the arrows point in the picture below, right?

Do they extend under the windshield frame to the outside area?

Those look like big stress cracks. . . Do you know if they stop at the gelcoat, or go into the laminate?

That is an unusual place for stress cracks. Every picture tells a story. You may want to find out the story behind these pictures. Anything on the outside of the boat in this area evidencing an impact or other damage?

Not an easy fix . . . what other boats do you have in mind?

Thanks TPenfield. I can't verify if the one above the sticker extends under the windshield but it definitely appears too. I only saw pictures of outside of the boat and it was shrink wrapped when I inspected it. If I recall there are more smaller similar cracks along the windshield on, If I recall correctly both side of the boat.Port and Stern. I do have a purchase agreement and survey scheduled but have not paid the down payment until I had more information.

All the above that Ted said. And good for you for an inspection. Just understand that alot of BAD inspections are still the nightmare of the new buyer. They have no liablility.
I would ask the owner directly what they are and hear his response just for good measure.
They do seem pretty straight so maybe that is the build. IDK?

Thanks guys. I did get another surveyor to respond and he thought they were just gel stress cracks from the windshield screws. Though some don't start at the windshield.
