Napa aluminum brite, AC coil cleaner, thes 2 are acids. so be careful, and try not to breathe the
fumes. I have been using the napa stuff. A good wash down with a power washer, wet toons down
again spray on alum brite let soak about 30 seconds wash off. rinse bunks real good. Did I miss
anything? old jim

I used Mother's aluminum polish and a polish wheel and a heck of a lot of sweat and got a gleaming mirror finish. trouble is that even on fresh water we go on, they oxidize and dull. Love the mirror finish but a lot of work to be the shiniest toons on the lake

What are you boating in, that may help in understanding the build up and how to remove it, that looks like calcium to me.

After a second look at the picture I think you are right Hawker. Pike fisherman does Lime away have some
kind of contact info on their product. I would truyto find out how their product gets along with aluminum. old jim

If shiny is what you want, you've got to use something to keep it shiny, and then maintain it so it won't be so much work to keep up w/ it.

SharkHide is 1 that'll help keep the shiny, among others.......

Re: Cleaner for pontoons?

It could cause pitting from corrosion, long term.

Increases drag in the water, but on a pontoon it may not be noticeable.

Quite a few tin boat builds lately have had quite a bit of pitting & corrosion between the aluminum transom skin & soft/rotten transom plywood.....
