Due to a layoff, I now find that I have some time on my hands. Am wanting to clean our canvas covers for our boat. I shows water stains (badly) where water has set, etc.

They are the "Ameritex" brand. Their web site says to use Ivory mild detergent, and scrub by hand. Is that Ivory liquid dishwashing soap ?? -OR- something else ??

What do you all use ??

Thanx !!

Re: Cleaning canvas covers

I just bought and shredded up a bar of Ivory soap, in a 5 gal. bucket. Used hot water to kind of dissolve the soap. Used a scrub brush, a garden hose, 4 beers (for me), and cleaned up the covers perfectly !!!!!!!! What a deal !!!!!! It was easy too !!!!!

Expidia, I had a sample bottle of the stuff you posted. It works well !!!!!! Just didn't have enough to do the whole job !!!!!

Re: Cleaning canvas covers

This stuff is amazing but through as it does say for acrylic canvas.

I use it on my Sunbrella fabrics and it contains no solvents. With a little light scrubbing with a brush it does an amazing job.

This may be a stupid question - but how do you actually clean the top. Mine is in a slip - do you leave the top on and wash it down, I wouldn't want to take the top off and lay it on the ground, but then also thinking that the marina might not like the run off from the 303 - (also not sure if that should run over the clear coat) . told you it might be a stupid question
