I have removed all the gas and debris from the tanks. Is there any kind of detegent I can use to safely remove the slim build up on the walls and bottom of my tanks? I have one 6 gallon portable and a 17 gallon stationary.

Thanks,
Tom

Re: Cleaning fuel tanks

For a similar project I used regular dish detergent and the kids aquarium gravel (fortunately the fish had expired). Shake it around, let it sit, shake it around, let it sit, etc, til the slime is scoured off the walls. Use HOT water and it will help dry out the tank quicker when you are done.

use 90% alcohol as the last treatment to dry out a tank...evaporates the water.

Actually the alcohol absorbs the residual water. The water/alcohol can then be dumped out of the tank.
