Cleaning Fuse Block?

Removed a tarnished fuse block from my 1988 Bayliner Ciera.
It was making bad connections, but only due to tarnish.

I'd like to make it as clean as possible before reinstalling.

Any reccomendations on cleaning it?

I used sandpaper on the 'easy to get to' spots.
Tried Isopropryl alcohol (google search reccomendation), didn't work.

Electrical contact cleaner? Ammonia?

Thank you,

Chopperdog

Re: Cleaning Fuse Block?

A little Tarnx or some other liquid metal cleaner should work.
You could always upgrade to a blade style since you have it out.

Re: Cleaning Fuse Block?

Thanks.

I assumed TarnX or Brasso might have wax in it.
I was trying to save a few bucks, every little bit makes a difference right now.

But, I realize maybe I should bite the bullet and replace it.

Thanks again,

ave cleaned them with spray electro sol then put dilectric grease on them and never had any come back but when spraying with electrol sol use a small wire brush and gets all the gunk off it before putting dilecric grease on it just my 2 cents

Once the original finish has been compromised there is no return. Bite the bullet and buy a new one before it bites you at the most inopportune time.
