I want to clean my motor from top to bottom as much as possible. Just boat a used boat about 6 months ago and the previous owner didn't keep the motor clean. It is a Honda 4 stroke 90 hp, believe the year is 97-99. What is the best way to clean the exess lubrication? Also, what needs to be lubricated afterwards?

There is also what a ppears to be a lubrications point that I have asked several people about but no one knows for sure so hopefully someone hear can help me. It is located halfway down on the left side (looking at motor from rear). Can this be a lubrication point for steering? because I am having hard time steering. I lubricate other points that I know for sure .

Thank You

Re: Cleaning/Lubricating

the steering rod needs cleaned as well as the steering tube to make it easier to steer...greasing the fittings won't do it...get some cleaner/degreaser-put down some layers of cardboard to catch the runoff and soak the heck out of the steering rod while someone at the helm turns the motor back and forth...you'll get a lot of the black junk built up inside the tube to come out the more you soak it
