I just purchased a 1989 model boat in which the PO left in the water ( fresh ) for years. The outdrive has some very thick/nasty deposits of minerals, but I would guess mostly calcium deposits. This is new to me. Is there anything that will remove the deposits besides many hours of sanding. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

Try some CLR works pretty well, either that or vinegar.

CLR, Vinegar, lime-away, Muriatic acid, scraper, a high pressure washer, allegedly WD40. Whatever you do....eye and body protection is a must.

Thanks guys for your input. I went to my local Family Dollar and they didn't have the CLR but, she had a product called "The Works" toilet cleaner. Anyway, bought one bottle of it, $1.50, sprayed it on the out-drive....bam! After about 3 quik applications, all deposits were gone. I'm a happy camper. Thanks again!

Yup.. That stuff has hydrochloric acid, chlorine bleach, sodium lauryl sulfate and citric acid.
