So I've got this nifty spark plug cleaner. It holds sand, and basically sandblasts the spark plugs and cleans them up real nice. I blow the plugs out with high PSI air to make sure the sand is gone, and I usually also spray a little carb cleaner on them also.

How often do you guys do this? I do a lot of idling, so I feel like I should do it more often.

Re: Cleaning Plugs

Why in the world would you foul plugs you just cleaned with carb cleaner? That stuff is for cleaning carb parts.

Never had a sand blaster, but I always cleaned and reused plugs for 8 or 10 times as long as most folks.

Re: Cleaning Plugs

One of my Harleys runs a little rich (its worked over, big cam), and if I don't use it hard, it fouls a plug.
Had one of those little blasters for years, it was my dads, and still use it.
I do the same thing...almost. Blast it, BUT.. then spray the crap out of it (gas resistent gloves on)..to get any of the abrasive out (flush it out)..then a shot of air.
