Cleaning/Restoring Vintage Gauges

Morning everyone, I am working on my winter restoration of my old '69 Chrysler Valiant, and I have removed both of my gauges (Speedo/Tach) took them apart and broke them down to individual pieces and want to clean/restore them. The speedo is no biggie and should be pretty straight forward, but the tach has me a little woried. There is what looks like salt residue on the pot metal of the tach internals. What can I use to clean it off? I was thinking of spray electrical cleaner and a soft brush used very gingerly. Does anyone have any thoughts? I could easily update my gauges but I really want to keep the boat as original as possible. Thanks in advance for any help y'all!
