Bought a 89 Kennedy 24' pontoon. The lake it came off of was full of algae/muck so I have a heavy water line. What is the best way to clean the toons before it goes in the new lake. I was thinking blasting with a soft media like soda blasting. Anyone have any recommendations? are there any better options like chemicals?

There have been many posts on this topic. Pink Air Conditioner Cleaner seems to be a favorite and be prepared to use lots of elbow grease. If it is not too caked on too much, trailering it to a local truck wash where they use mild chemicals and pressure washers may shorten your work time considerably.

If it's a lot of algae, you need to get all that off first. Pressure washer is what I use for that. Once you get that off, you can decide if it's worth to go further with discoloration and calcium deposits if any.

It depends on what you are removing! If its organic (muck, grime, algae, etc...) you need physical activity, contact time, temperature and a high pH material in an ideal world.

If its mineral scale, then you need an acid based cleaner.

If its corroded aluminum surface (nothing physically present other than a much darker color than new alum) then you will also need an acid-based cleaner.

Keep in mind that as aluminum corrodes (it does not rust), it is actually creating a chemical layer that protects itself from more corrosion. When you remove this, it will only just corrode further.
