im not gonna lie to you. i needed to do some serious cleaning to my vinyl in my boat and i looked up all different types of cleaners. what i was told to do was use soft scrub, scrub with a damp face cloth (not wet). you will see the black mold and grime come right up. MAKE SURE you put a type of leather cleaner or vinyl protector over it i used armor all (its like a sun block). thats all i used and my seats never looked better.

I use the 303 after i clean it. It is a UV blocker but much better than Armor All.

I've read somewhere on here amor-all is a big no-no.

If this is incorrect I will use it too....cheaper than 303. I'm using the 303 spf 40 stuff works well so far!

A303 isn't a cleaner, it's a preservative- use it after cleaning. I think it's an effective product- i use it on my spa cover, motorcycle seat and boat vinyl.

Armor all is also a protector, and often generates a heated debate on many discussion forums. Allegedly it harms the vinyl it's supposed to protect. Yet it continues to be widely sold and used. I've used it in the past and don't recall it causing any problems.

Magic eraser with 409 you'll be amazed, rinse off and then protect.

Tuff Stuff with Magic Eraser works for me... I add the 303 when needed.

My $.02

YMMV

Magic erasure is great but take it easy and use it lightly and sparingly or it will work too well in some spots. I use Macguiers Vinyl and Rubber protector. My vinyl is pretty new so I spot use the Magic Erasure on things like toe nail polish streeks my wife likes to leave behind. Walmart sells a whole box of off brand ME's for cheap. My Chaparral specifically toubts using 303 on the vinyl. Armor all is a big no-no but I used it for years on my Bayliner with pretty cheepo vinyl and had no issues except when I put it on whatever the Dino stearing wheel is mad out of. It instantly turned it from deep black to white and chalky which was permanent damage. By the way cleaning with a fresh microfiber cloth is also helpful. Much better than just a terry cloth towel but microfibers loose their effectiveness after several washes.

I use Clorox Bleach Spray with a small sponge, rinse that off and a quick wipe down with super purple and everything is fine.

Re: Cleaning Vinyl..... What is the best product?

I've been using armorall and pledge in my vehicles for 40 years. My 31 year old car and 26 year old boat have upholstery that look like new.

I tried 303 once and threw the can out. It was sticky and streaky and made the vinyl look like crap. Maybe it was because of all that pledge already soaked into the vinyl....LOL.

I dunno what's best. When something works for me I stick with it.

Re: Cleaning Vinyl..... What is the best product?

I bought an '86 Four Winns that had apparently not been cleaned since new! Dirt, grease, mold, everything you can think of and a few things you probably wouldn't think of...!

NOTHING got through it to the original color until I became desperate and sprayed a rag with automotive choke cleaner and rubbed the vinyl with it. Instantly back to the original gray/blue and the contrasting gray, and both with good luster. And I mean instantly. No residue, nothing to rinse off, no follow up to finish.

So I did the whole thing with it and used some 303 after that. Now I can use any good vinyl cleaner to keep it that way.

My Glastron manual says "don't use Armor all". Doesn't say why, but it might attack the threads. I Use Maguiars and then the UV protector. Eight year old seats look like new.
