I am planning to put a clearcoat on a 19' Galaxy. I spent the last year rebuilding the inside of it and patching the outside. I am looking at using Por-15 Pelucid for the clearcoat, but was wandering if anyone has used it and what they think about it or if their is a better clearcoat out there.

What are you trying to achieve with the clear coat?

Re: Clear Coat Question

I want to provide a harder surface to protect the paint and decals from being scratched and premature fading.

Re: Clear Coat Question

Clearcoat really will not prevent sticker fading. The fading is caused by lack of uv protection....... If you read the specs on the por-15 clearcoat it is meant for interior use.....

Re: Clear Coat Question

Ayuh,... Clearcoat ain't all it's cracked up to be....
It's 1 of the things that's driven the price of body work Sky High...
It complicates Fixin' anything...

If your stickers get faded or scratched,.. remove,+ replace 'em...
If the Paint gets scratched or worn,.. Alittle sanding,+ more paint it's Fixed...

Adding Clearcoat,... Quadruples the work,+ cost of anything you do, after the 1st coat ya Shoot...
